Right now, MD3 does not feel faster than just modeling in Zbrush, but it is an interesting way to study garment construction. I can see that if an artist has robust knowledge of how garments are constructed MD3 would at the very least be a quick way to block in overall shapes, seams, and folds. Controlling the fabric feels clumsy at times, but that is likely due to the learning curve.
